i m always a day late behind posting i guess, lol.
Anyway, i participated in my first FNM game, it was swell. ( swell is a cheesy word xD). Real fun, even though i didnt win anything, but hey, i get to play loads. A friend told me that he ask about the entry fee, and that it was 6 dollar because there was a doorgift, a booster. but nope, i didnt get anything. i wasnt one of the people who recieve the random prize either. i was curious, i think the possible reason is because there were not enough players. but i enjoyed the game =D. going to go next week.
And boy, did prices shot up, last i heard about the price of planeswalker was 10 + and now garruk shot up to 30 dollar. i was like woot.... i got 2 from booster and im using it because it isnt worth too much. but now there is 2 30 dollar card in my deck.. omg....@_@ must handle with care. prices of shriekmaw were really scary too... 3 dollar a piece... can u believe it? and jester's price got up to 7 dollar... same for elvish champion, all from 5 dollar. but i think the main reason is because they were sold out, so im still trying to get jester at maximum 5 and elvish at 4.
going comic mart later this afternoon, hopefully tony will be there, last he said elvish champion he selling 4 dollar, so i think i will buy from him.
now i think i suppose to make a sideboard for my next fnm, when i said i dont have a sideboard they were like... @_@ u dont have a sideboard... omg.. wtf...@_@...
seems like i could really need one, one of the players told me that its better to get a sideboard, that way u get a better chance of winning, im considering putting 4 thorn, since i hate burns. but worst thing is, i sold my thorn @_@. and before the game i was considering putting elvish harbinger away, but .. it save me alot of times, elvish harbinger really did alot of things for me, whereas the jagged scar archers arent that good, it did save me from alot of games with my frens, but at the fnm, they were mostly destroyed, or too weak, i think i pulling them out, reducing packmaster was a goo idea too, coz they werent much use, but i think i was quite unlucky today, since i keep getting a land jam or land flood, seems like i didnt shuffle enough. but blaming land jam and land flood is a noob excuse, so i cant say that it cause me to lose =X. but it proves that i need a sideboard, so i can balance land and all.. neh, thinking too much.
later im going to get my mulldrifter form mjh, that would leave me with one academy ruins and two jester for my deck to be completed. =D.
and im have to try and get those dice and counters that the people in fnm use, or else i cant keep track of life, there was one game where if i attack i would win, but i thought he left 4 life and not 2, so i go on defensive... in the end, the person next to him ask him, how much is your life, he said 2.. i was like... oh my holy noo..... why why why, so i think i should bring paper to keep track of life, or else i would repeat the same mistake. talking about counters, i think i have em.. just need to find them.. xD and for tokens, i could use other TCG cards.. lets see.. i have some fake pokemon cards. LOL .

drafting
basically i want to explain to my frens, if they ever see this on what is drafting, im not entirely sure, but its really fun =D, u can go on you tube and search pro tour 2006 kobe draft, got vid on ppl drafting.
from what i know, everybody gets 3 packs of booster, they open it, and pick a card from that first opened booster, and pass it to the next person, take it that they start frm passing clockwise. after all cards are depleted. they open the second and pass it counter clockwise. so all in all, everybody will get 45 cards, coz everybody initiallly bought 3. think about it, u got 15, u take one u lose the rest, and u took another 14 from the one passing it to u, u take 1 and pass and the person passing to u apss u aother 13, so its the same, u end up with 15.
For my friends,
to make it fair, maybe all of us should take out the rare when we palying =D, winner gets to choose a rare first =D
So... to sum up, the whole drafitn process goes like this:
3 booster each person
open 1st booster

repeat until all cards gone
repeat for next few booster altering the passing direction
end with 45 cards

After retest
took my chinese retest yesterday, and i would have said today if in werent for the fact that i slept once i reach home xD.
Yesterday was quite fun i must say, i met a few of my classmates, really miss them. Seems that for some of them, it was a long time since they touch magic the gathering. thats why i had to explain the whole stack thing on using oblivion ring with vedalken to my friend chen tao.
kind of a nerd for me.. =.=, but hey, its cool if you know the game, really strategic.
I also did some look up on drafting, real fun, planning to make a small draft game with my mtg frens. but i think for them, they would most likely take the rare for the draft. So maybe, there should be a rule where the winner gets to choose from the stack of rares, or rares cannot be used in the game, that way, the players focus more on winning or amking a good deck instead of taking the cards they want... i mean, no offense, but the way my class sees the cards in mtg.. they just think, oh this good card, take. oh bad card, throw.. not like those in the pro tour draft. i was watching them, and one person pick a blue card form his first pack, which was not very strong, i think its almost crap. but seems like he got smth in mind.
Going FNM later in the night, going to play my first game =D. hopefully i wont lose shamefully. xD
talking about different play styles, i remember the time i was watch the fnm players play... it was like OMFG, WTF,WTF, IMBA. Their level is totally up, compare them with my class, it was like, heaven looking into a well, with us being the frogs in the well.
So, it just made me open my eyes to magic. i wish most of my friends were like them, but if they are, then it wouldnt be fun playing with them. i think the best thing about casual play, is because people dont focus on first turn kills or fast deck, but rather really stupid but hilarious ways of playing. example, there was once where i pull out isochron with giga drowse, and tap all my opponents land, whilst removing their permenants with reality strobe comnig into play every few turns with paradx haze in play >.<. that is like a 6 card combo.. really really stupid and lousy, but hey its funny, u lock all their lands and reality strobe just keep flying back =D. i dont hting a combo which require more than 4 cards will work in tournaments, people usually just break it with a counterspell.
speaking about counterspell, i realize most people play decks with abit of blue, and i m afraid of blue >.<
and having seen good players make u laugh at the weaker ones, no offense, but its like u looking at somebody who think he is the best, when there is thousands out there better than him by leaps. i once read at the forum where i new player posted " best this unbeatable combo" he say this combo is invincible,etcetc and he uses 9 card. the next post said," wow, a nine card combo, if this isnt a joke, im really disappointed". LOL. people could win and kill in a few turns and has no need for nine cards, and he was like, beat this 9 card combo, its the best . LOLOLOL so funny nia.
all in all, i think everybody should be humble, especially me, coz im not strong. but i cant help lauhging when something really noob happens. so forgive me xD, i cant control my laughter, even if im the one being laugh at ><.
